Hello Lovely!
How are you? I hope you don't mind but I've set up my blog and I've linked your blog - I absolutely love your posts but let me know if you want me to take it down.
I've 365 days to find a man! Otherwise I'm going too a nunnery :)
Hope all is well - and congratulations at CO. It must be amazing to be there.
It would be great to see you again.
lots of love

I loved this post Nic. It can be hard for us expats to great long lasting friendships - especially when we live & work in the digital environment.

When I first moved to Sydney, I was a backpacker - I made new friends all the time. The only sad thing was: they frequently moved on - so I lost them. Since becoming full time out here, I have found it much harder to meet people who actually want friendships - There’s a big difference between a backpackers mentality & and a working expat (We workers are tired and busy) - And sometimes it’s harder to make the initial connection.

I personally love meeting new people, but sometimes find it hard to take a connection further or rather take it out of professional environment into an informal one. If I do anything next week it's to remember these things:

– Know your target
– Look for and show shortcuts to facilitate connection
– Be remarkable
– Have the courage to make the first move
– Amplify to continue the experience and connection.
– Know your lifespan
– Remember to forget

PS. You are now officially on my blog roll!
